From Julie 27th May

Dear friends – I hope that you’re all keeping safe and well, and able to enjoy this beautiful early Summer sunshine.

This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost. As usual, I will be leading Morning Worship via Facebook Live at 10am, but with no sermon or reflection, as instead I’ll be uploading a sermon from Bishop Toby to follow our service. Do join me if you can, either via Facebook or by praying at home and joining with others in spirit. I attach the liturgy for Sunday.

I’ve also prepared a service booklet for use on Sundays in June. The first few pages contain a simplified liturgy/order of service, and the rest of the booklet contains material for each Sunday – psalm, readings, a short reflection on the Gospel passage by different writers, prayers of intercession (contributed mostly by several of our lovely congregation members from St Andrew’s) and the collect. I’m sending this (and this Sunday’s liturgy) out to the 23 congregation members for whom I have addresses who don’t have access to e-mail, so that they will be able to join with us in prayer and worship from wherever they are. I attach it here as a PDF, and I hope that it will also be available on the website.

In other news, the PCC had its first virtual gathering (NOT a meeting!) this week via Zoom, to see how we got on with it. It went very well, particularly given that for some people it was their first time using this kind of technology. We’ve decided that as it’s not likely to be possible for us to meet physically for some considerable time to come, we will have a go at a proper meeting in the near future. Do pray for us as we learn about how to use the technology to best effect, and that we’ll be able to make it help us as we seek to promote the growth of God’s kingdom in our parish.

With every blessing
Julie
